The 2017 NBA’s Christmas Games Guide

joel embiid philadelphia seventy sixers Several key players such as Joel Embiid, Chris Paul, Stephen Curry, Isaiah Thomas and Lonzo Ball are injured but Christmas would not be the same without the annual slate of NBA games, a tradition that started all the way back in 1947. The 2017 Christmas Day schedule includes the following games:

-Philadelphia 76ers at New York Knicks (12 p.m. ET)
Key injury: Center Joel Embiid (PHI) is questionable with back tightness.

Note: Ok we won’t lie, this one won’t be interesting unless we can look at Krystaps Porzingis and Embiid going at each other.

-Cleveland Cavaliers at Golden State Warriors (3 p.m. ET)
Key injuries: Point guard Stephen Curry (G.S) is out with an ankle sprain. Point guard Isaiah Thomas (CLE) is out with a torn labrum.

Note: Worth watching because these two teams have faced each other in the last three NBA Finals and even without Curry this still is the biggest NBA Finals rivalry since the Lakers versus Celtics battles of the 80s.

-Washington Wizards at Boston Celtics (5:30 p.m. ET)
Key injury: Small forward Gordon Heyward (BOS) is out with an ankle injury.

Note: This marks the first time in franchise history that the Celtics are hosting a game on Christmas day.

-Houston Rockets at Oklahoma City Thunder (8 p.m. ET)
Key injury: Point guard Chris Paul (HOU) is questionable with a hamstring injury.

Note: Worth watching because we’ll get to see point guards Rusell Westbrook (OKC) and James Harden (HOU), the top two MVP contenders of last season, go head-to-head. Furthermore, the Rockets are looking two snap losses in back-to-back games after winning 14 in a row.

-Minnesota Timberwolves at Los Angeles Lakers (10:30 p.m. ET)
Key injury: Point guard Lonzo Ball (L.A)

Note: The Lakers will also miss small forward Brandon Ingram due to a quadriceps injury so don’t expect them to put much of a fight even though they’re at home. Instead watch for the battle between power forward Kyle Kuzma and center Karl-Anthony Towns, two immensely talented young players.
