Malaysia Grand Prix Preview

Formula 1The formula 1 drivers’ championship is entering its final stretch and the Malaysian Grand Prix arrives with Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg holding a mere eight point advantage over British teammate Lewis Hamilton with only six races remaining on the schedule.

Fortunately, for Hamilton Sepang is a track where he is used to having good performances as in his last four races there he finished in the top three, which includes a win in 2014.

The problem for Hamilton is that Rosberg is having his second best stretch of the season as he has managed to win the last three races of the championship. This is the second time that Rosberg wins three races in a row, something he also accomplished when he won the first four races of the year.

The German won the Singapore Grand Prix on September 18 to move to the top of the standings as Hamilton ended third, over eight seconds behind. Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo finished in second place and is third in the standings behind the Mercedes teammates. Before his triumph in Singapore, Rosberg had won in Belgium and Italy, while Hamilton finished third and second respectively.

In the constructors’ championship, Mercedes is comfortably in front as it leads with 538 points over the 316 of Red Bull and the 301 of Ferrari. This fierce battle for second is most likely to continue through the end of the season as the drivers for both teams are evenly matched.

The battle for fourth place sees Force India leading British constructor Williams by one point (112-111) and every race will prove crucial for both of them. All this promises great action on the circuits and a wild finish to the formula one season.

Odds to win the Malaysian Grand Prix:
Lewis Hamilton       -115
Nico Rosberg                        +125
Daniel Ricciardo      +900
Sebastien Vettel       +1000
